Patti's Summer Broccoli Salad

      GRANNY SAYS: My friend Patti gave me this recipe because I begged her! It's a great way to serve broccoli. Even if you're strictly a lettuce-and-tomato-salad person, give this a taste test. It just might change your mind.

     

1 large red onion 8 oz. cheddar cheese
8 oz. cooked bacon (optional) 1 large head broccoli
1 cup mayonnaise 1/3 cup sugar
2 tsp. cider vinegar 1/2 cup raisins
1/2/ cup chopped nuts 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
Salt and pepper to taste  
  • Finely chop onion, grade cheese, and mince up cooked bacon.
  • Separate uncooked broccoli into small florets and combine vegetables with cheese, bacon, raisins, nuts, and seeds.
  • Add sugar and vinegar to mayonnaise and stir it into the vegetable mix.
  • Salt and pepper to taste. Serve chilled. (Can be made the day before.)
