Applesauce Spice Cake
GRANNY SAYS: Your lovely,
moist cake will keep well for several days. Although of course, it never lasts that long in my house. Even the
crumbs are gone by morning!
| 1/2 cup butter |
1 cup brown sugar |
| 1 egg |
1 cup applesauce |
| 1-1/4 cups cake flour |
1 tsp. baking soda |
| 1 tsp. cinnamon |
1/2 tsp. nutmeg |
| 1/2 tsp. ground cloves |
1/2 tsp. ginger, |
| 1/4 tsp. salt |
1 cup raisins |
| 1/2 cup whipped cream |

- Cream together the butter and brown sugar.
- Beat in egg and add applesauce.
- Sift in the flour and dry ingredients a little at a time.
- Add raisins and stir well.
- Bake in a greased 8-inch square pan at 350 degrees for about 45
minutes.
- Serve topped with whipped cream or your favorite frosting.
