Fudgy Saucepan Brownies

      GRANNY SAYS: The only thing better than chocolate cookies are fudge brownies. Kids will snap them up of course, but watch how grownups go for them, too!

     

1/2 cup sugar 1 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. water 2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract 2/3 cup flour
1/4 cup baking soda 1/2 cup nuts (optional)
2 cups (12-oz-pkg..) semi-sweet chocolate chips  
  • Combine sugar, butter, and water in a medium saucepan and cook over low heat until mixture comes to a boil.
  • Remove from heat, add half the chocolate chips and stir until melted.
  • Add eggs, vanilla, flour, baking soda, and salt and stir until well mixed.
  • Add nuts and remaining chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into a buttered square pan and bake at 325 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Cool, cut into squares, and frost with your favorite frosting.
