RECIPE 96
Oatmeal Giants
GRANNY SAYS: These big
hunky guys are always a smash. Dunk them in milk. Nibble them with tea. Big though they are, nobody ever has
trouble eating a lot of them at a single sitting. (Why is that do you
think?) When Patti makes these, she adds butterscotch bits along with
the raisins! Try that some time. Pretty amazing!
| 3/4 cup butter |
1 cup light brown sugar |
| 1/2 cup white sugar |
1 egg |
| 1/4 cup water |
3 cups uncooked oats |
| 1 cup white flour |
1/2 tsp. baking soda |
| 1 tsp. vanilla |
1/4 cup chopped almonds |
| 1/2 tsp. cinnamon |
3/4 cup raisins |
| 1/8 tsp. salt |
|
- Cream margarine with both sugars.
- Add egg, water, and vanilla and beat until smooth.
- Add raisins, almonds and dry ingredients and stir well.
- With a large serving spoon, drop rounded spoonfuls on a greased
baking sheet, leaving plenty of room for the cookies to
spread. (Bigger dollops, bigger cookies!)
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 15 to 17 minutes.
